M9364 - WW1 BLACK WOUND BADGE.   £30
A black wound badge, hollow back type with good pin assembly and good paint finish.

M9370 - WATER BOTTLE.   Sold
army water bottle with brown corduroy covering, has stopper and belt hook, though has a split leather neck strap.

M9050 - TELEGRAPHTRUPPEN BELT BUCKLE.   £185
A pretty rare wide belt buckle for the Prussian Telegraphtruppen, or Telegraph troops, steel buckle with normal prussian buckle centre but the buckle is extra wide and has a flat loop rivetted to each side, to enable these specialist troops to support a reel of wire and leave their hands free when working. These special belt buckles were only issued to these troops and have normal fittings to the rear for the belt leather. This particular buckle has had the facing side plated, possibly for parade use and though worn in places its still very good.

M8537 - RELIC MAUSER G98 WITH BAYONET FROM MOUQUET FARM.   £165
A relic german Mauser G98 rifle, still with fixed bayonet, recovered some time ago from the area of Mouquet Farm, which was heavily fought over as part of the battle of the Somme in 1916, the the wood has all gone the rifle is otherwise complete and has the full bayonet, fitted in 1916 and now frozen by rust to its relic rifle since the day it was lost.

M9266 - RELIC M16 HELMET SHELL.   Sold
A relic M16 helmet shell that was found on the Wipers battlefield some years ago. It is fairly corroded with holes but has good shape and makes an historic display item.

M9160 - PRUSSIAN INFANTRY PICKELHAUBE.   £525
Fairly early M1895, black leather shell pickelhaube, with brass fittings and badge of the prussian eagle, leather chinstrap in place and it has its painted metal cockade discs each side, one in national colours, the other prussian. Liner is all intact and sound and shell has unit markings, a good, straight and original helmet.

M9217 - PRUSSIAN INFANTRY FIELD CAP.   £250
Very good condition field service "pork pie" cap, with red infantry piping and Prussian cockade buttons, interior is stamped with various details and 1915 date, fairly large size and no moth or damage.

M7849 - PRUSSIAN BELT AND BUCKLE WITH TROPHY BADGES.   £140
A german firstwar belt with brass, Prussian belt buckle and having been used as a trophy belt, with the addition of various british regimental cap badges, still attached to the belt leather, though a number have been removed, interesting item.

M9219 - PILOTS PROTECTIVE FLYING HELMET.   £450
An Imperial German Air Service pilots protective flying helmet, worn instead of the basic leather helmet for extra protection, consists of a felt lined, black leather covered shell, with thick padded band around the head and also over the crown and has a leather peak and side flaps with integral chinstrap, looks very much like the later NSKK motorcycle helmets, the interior liner is similar to that found in the picklehaube. It has seen much use and the left side flap has had to be replaced, but though the leather looks new on the inside, it has been made to match the aged look of the right hand flap, very nice restoration and makes the helmet which is over a hundred years old, very displayable. The helmet was used in action by german pilot Peter Thowas in 1917-18 and a photo of him comes with the helmet.

M9218 - PILOTS GROUPING OF MEDALS, PHOTOS, PAPERWORK.   Sold
A scarce grouping to an Imperial Air Service pilot, that comes with three photo's of him in uniform, showing awards & insignia, the group consists of his uniform shoulder board with winged propellor metal insignia, black wound badge, Honour Medal of the 1st War and a 14-18 war Cross. Also there is a set of minitures on a gilt chain with pins, these are the wound badge & 14-18 War cross, also a gilt 14-18 service on the east front medal and a silver 14-18 Hungarian medal, these may indicate he flew on the eastern hungarian front. Final item is his WW11 Werhpas, with photo, that shows all his first war service with various Flieger units and that he went on the reserve list in 1937 but being too old for regular service, other stamps show him with different Landwehr units in 1943 & 1944, possibly Volksturm. Nice collection with plenty of room for possible research. I also have his flying helmet on my list.

M7844 - OFFICERS 6X BINOCULARS.   £45
A good pair of german officers binoculars, maker marked C.P.Goerz. Berlin. And also marked 6x Helinox Trieder-Binocle D.R.P. The optics are good, adjustment works and they have a good black finish overall, just missing a neck strap.

M9187 - MODEL 1917 STICK GRENADE   Sold
A very good condition model 1917 stick grenade, complete with belt hook to its head, good wooden handle, with metal screw cap to the end, which reveals the pull cord and ceramic bead. Wood is a little dry with minor splits and is stamped 5 1/2 Sck. M.B.B, so has a 5.5 second delay fuse, the head has some corrosion but is sound.

M9184 - MEDICAL OFFICERS SERVICE TUNIC   Sold
A good condition medical officers service tunic, the same field grey type as worn by the army but with shoulder boards having attached gilt medical insignia and blue piped around the collar and cuffs, though piped red down the front facing indicating prussian army, tunic is well tailored, has painted metal buttons and stitched award loops to the left chest, very good display item.

M9185 - M18 HELMET SHELL.   £250
A good M18 helmet shell, though missings its liner, the rivets are in place and it shows a lt of its original greenish tan paint finish, very sound with no obvious rust pitting.

M9186 - M17 COMBAT HELMET.   £425
A pretty good M17 combat helmet with most of its original factory tan finish intact, with traces of light green camo over paint and also has a good liner assembly with all pads intact, though missing its chinstrap, has no rust pitting and is a good example of its type.

M9159 - M16 CAMO HELMET WITH NAME, MARNE 1918.   Sold
Excellent camo painted M16 helmet, with black bordered camo pattern mostly all intact, with patches of original factory finish showing through and full liner assembly and chinstrap. Inside the back of the shell are the hand painted details of an officer of Minenwerfer Regiment 5, also attached to the liner is an old label which states the helmet was picked up in the Marne 1918, at the end of the last german offensive. A good item that has been well looked after and with a lot of history.

M7392 - LARGE FRAMED PROFILE METAL BUST OF BISMARK.   £75
A large, blackened wood framed, profile bust of Bismark, size approx 21 x 18 inches, the striking bust being set into a black velvet backing and being of metal with a bronzed finish, back of the frame has heavy duty hooks for hanging and is very well made. Possibly a memorial item made after Bismarks death in the 1930's.

M9373 - JAGER HANGER.   £70
A silk material, double sided hanging banner type item, edged in coloured cord, with attatched metal hanging bar to the top, did have a bullion fringe to the bottom edge, but only a small section remains. One side of the banner which is split into black & white, it has a black Jager shako with badge on a white circle all in silk, also in silk material, the other side is white and has an imperial military flag in full colour, there is no wording or other markings.

M9161 - INFANTRY FIELD SERVICE PORK PIE CAP.   £375
A good condition Prussian M1910 infantry field service cap, the round shape often known as the "pork pie" cap, its of field grey material, piped in red for infantry and has the two painted cockade buttons sewn to the front, cap is well lined and the material is stamped with various details and date of 1915, cap is clean, good size and free from moth.

M9382 - HORN GRIP TRENCH KNIFE.   £195
A well made german trench knife with horn grip, bright steel cross guard with balled ends and a double edged stiletto blade. Sheath is leather with belt loop and metal tip.

M9056 - GERMAN MACHINE GUNNERS HELMET.   £325
A pretty scarce machine gunners, marked M16 helmet, sadly just a shell which was recovered from the battlefield some years ago and though quite relic inside with a few very small holes to the crown, most of its external finish is intact and still retains its hand painted oval black & white badge showing a Maxim MG inside it, to the right side and a number 5 to the right side (possibly for the company or MG team) and to the rear skirt a verticle red line, possibly to aid quick ID of the wearer. Looks as though the helmet was left buried upside down, letting the liner etc rot away and water lying in the crown corrode it but protecting the finish on the outside, nice original semi-relic example of a very rare helmet.

M8556 - GERMAN KUGEL 1915 GRENADE.   £60
A german model 1915 Kugel grenade, has a segmented cast body in the shape of a ball and should have a fuse pull wire to the top but this is missing, otherwise the grenade is in good condition.

M9369 - GASMASK AND CANNISTER.   £85
A gasmask cannister with the remains of most of its gasmask inside, which was found some years ago in a french farm barn in the Arras area of the Somme battlefield.

M9381 - BONE OR CELULOID GRIP TRENCH KNIFE.   £175
trench or general purpose knife, with white bone or celuloid grip with a twisted look and a fancy steel cross guard, has double edged blade and a all leather sheaf with belt loop.

M8898 - AUSTRIAN M17 HELMET SHELL.   £180
A very sound austrian M17 helmet shell, missing all its liner & chinstrap assembly, has traces of original finish but is difficult to see through the very fine coat of surface rust on the shell, giving it a reddish colour but there is no real pitting or corroded area's, just nice as found original condition.

M7533 - AIRMANS MARKED AND NAMED KITBAG.   £145
What I think is an airmans kitbag, light grey canvas material, with metal eyelets for tie cord at neck and hand strap to base, has painted markings of "Feld-Unterarzt. W.Dehmichen. F.L.9. X111. FL.K."

M9199 - 1917 DATED SOLDIERS GRAVE MARKER CROSS.   £300
A wooden cross grave marker for a german pioneer regiment soldier who died in 1917 and has not been researched, the cross came from one of the 15 german cemetries in the Langemark area of the Leper Salient, that were cleared in the late 50's and moved to 5 mass grave sites and the then unused crosses were disposed of, this one survived, being found 40 years ago in a Langemark farmyard and has been fitted with a metal base display stand. The cross itself is of the original black finished wood, the top post having a carved iron cross and on the lower section, a carved cross over the date of death. On the cross beam is attached an alloy plate headed with the grave number, under which is the man's name, below that is his unit details and lastly his date of death. The cross beam is much older than the vertical post, which looks to have been a more recent replacement to keep it in good order, possibly due to rot. A rare and original western front grave marker to a fallen soldier, that deserves to be preserved in his memory.

M9293 - 1917 ARTILLERY SHELL AND CASE.   Sold
A large german artillery shell with its short brass case, marked and dated 1917, the shell has been repainted in correct colours and markings.

M9171 - 1916 DATED MAUSER RIFLE AMMO POUCH.   £85
Excellent condition, single brown leather ammo pouch for the Mauser 98K rifle, stamped with maker and date 1916, leather is supple and all fittings are intact, these pouches were used as both singles & pairs.

M8634 - 08 PATTERN BINOCULARS IN CASE.   £185
A very good condition pair of Fernglas 08 binoculars with original dark grey paint finish, with leather neck strap and painted alloy rainguard, having velvet lining, complete with later model ersatz case with leather fittings. The small binoculars issued from 1916 have good optics and are maker marked to Rodenstock, Munchen, also marked "K.B.Dienst. FG.08." and also have a (J) mark. Case is excellent with all its leather straps in brown leather, case is black and inside the lid is a paper label with operating instructions for the 08, really nice period set.
