M8828 - WW11 SOE JUMP GOGGLES.   Sold
A very good condition pair of folding jump goggles, for use by SOE agents when dropped by parachute into enemy countries. They would form part of the jump suit & helmet set used and were issued for single use, the idea being that the agent would remove and bury the items after landing. Most were clear but these have the scarcer tinted, plastic lenses which fold flat with a basic elastic strap.

M8772 - WW1 PERIOD N.R.A. MEDAL IN CASE.   £35
A very good bronze medal for the N.R.A. (national rifle assoc) complete with its original fitted case, the medal which depicts an archer and a soldier with rifle is of first war vintage and many soldiers earned them.

M7350 - WOODEN SHELL ROUND FOR DRILL PRACTICE.   £45
A large wooden shell head, painted in grey and blue, which appears to have been used for drill practice, no real wieght and would fit happily into the right shell case.

A medium sized boats wheel, constructed from wood & brass, with a steel centre boss, of no real great age but makes a good condition display item.

M7063 - WILLIAM 1V SWORD CANDLE STICK.   £475
Interesting item, a William 1V gold plated officers sword with broken blade, that has been converted into a candle stick to hold 4 candles, the sword which still retains its leather scabbard over the broken, blued blade has had its hilt with royal cypher & pommel attached to a round hardwood base mount and the tip of the broken blade has attached holders for candles. There is a pistol or musket ball strike to the scabbard throat which is reputed to be the cause of the officer falling from his horse and breaking his sword, makes a very attractive display item and the candle holders can be easily removed so as to remove the scabbard and reveal the blade if wanted.

M8890 - WAFFEN SS DINNER PLATE.   £85
A fairly plain looking mess hall dinner plate in white china but marked to the underside with a small crown and maker name "Victoria" and also "Waffen SS", shows its age and having been used but is undamaged.

M8866 - VW SCHWIMMWAGEN WOODEN PADDLE.   £195
One of two wooden paddles I have, that were part of the stowed equipment on the VW Schwimmwagen, which had a single paddle clamped to the near side of the vehicle as an emergency aid if the engine stopped in the water, approx 5ft long, the wood is in good shape for its age and could still be used, nice original item.

M6284 - VICTORIAN R.A. PILLBOX HAT.   £55
A nice victorian Royal Artillery "pillbox" hat as issued to gunners of our coastal forts. The hat is in colourful yellow, blue & black material, well lined and has a thin elastic chinstrap, it has suffered a couple of moth nips to the rear but is otherwise clean & tidy and displays well.

Recovered from one of the U-Boat pens on the brittainy coast and has been cleaned.

M8761 - TRENCH ART BRASS BLENHEIM BOMBER.   £45
Very heavy, solid cast brass, model of a RAF Blenhiem bomber, brass has discoloured a little but a nice original item.

M8614 - TIGER TANK RELIC TURRET ELEVATION GEAR.   £185
A rare, relic item from the turret of a german Tiger 1 panzer, consists of a bevelled gear assembly in an armoured housing, which still turns and which would have formed part of the gun elevation or turret traverse manual system. The stub shaft from the base of the housing looks to be possibly the type that would take a operating hand wheel. Sadly, although the tank type is known, the original history of the item has been lost. It has been cleaned the housing repainted.

M8948 - STENO MACHINE AND BRITISH ZONE ID PASS.   £275
A "Palantype" Stenotype Machine, reputed to have been used by a stenographer at the Nuremberg War Trials and comes with a "Britische Zone Personal Auswies" (or british zone pass) issued to a german woman. The black stenotype machine is used by stenographers to take down transcripts at trials in shorthand and has a set of unmarked keys & bars which are used to touch type onto a paper roll, also has a blue and a red push button (not sure what these do). It is complete with its black transit case with locking clips and a carry handle. A whole team of stenographers were used at the trials and it may be possible to trace this person, the last stamp on her pass is dated 1947.

A very interesting and varied collection of items from the spanish civil war and all related to the Republican side, consists of an excellent, large floppy red beret with republican enamel eagle badge and a silvered star, has a makers label inside for "Bilbaina of Barcelona". There are four very good bank notes for 100, 50 & 25 Pesetas and a very small note for 50 Centimos, two republican stamps (unused), a pack of unopened cigarettes with republican badge and two sheets of 10 unissued, 1936 tobaco coupons, there are four rank stars, mostly different, some brass, some silvered, a gold & black cloth rosette with red & black ribbon, much used and in a box, a "Sanidad" field dressing kit, a fully marked linen bag containing field dressing and bandages, a bar of black coloured, unused soap, a small rectangular shaped torch, an alloy canteen cup with leather strap, a period coin and a metal ID disc, circular with indented line across it, so it can be broken in half, each half having the persons service number and letter E. M7910 - SILVER PLATED BOAT COMPASS.   £125
A nice silver plated "tell tale" compass from the late 1800's, this is a fully gimballed and inverted compass, that would have been fixed, possibly over a bed in the captains cabin of a merchant ship, so that he could check directions at a quick glance, has a dry compass card and the whole assembly of compass and gimballed structure is all silver plated brass and is in full working order.

M8661 - SILVER COFFEE STRAINER FROM GOERINGS TRAIN.   £350

The strainer takes the form of a large cup with a single handle and strainer holes to the base, which has a silver mark and the number 241, it has a top civer with finnial and inside a push down strainer. It appears much of the silverware used were also marked with D.R. sometimes with an eagle, but this item is plain, though of good quality & style. Was brought back by a british serviceman in 1945, a nice undamaged item from Goerings personal train.

M5846 - SILVER BROOCH MINIATURE OF H.M.T. SOMERSETSHIRE.   £85
Excellent, small silver, pin back brooch with glass front, approx an inch wide and containing a highly detailed miniature of the H.M.T. Somersetshire on a kind of blue mother of pearl background, may have been worn by a ships officers wife. The Somersetshire was launched in 1921 for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co but was converted in 1927 to a troopship for 1,300 mean, in 1939 she was again converted, this time to a HM Hospital Ship, she was torpedoed in the Med 1942 but made it to Alexandria, after the war she was a Migrant ship to australia before becoming a troopship again in 1953 but was finaly broken up in 1954.

A white metal, pinback brooch, with circled belt & buckle, having a hand with dagger through the centre and motto "Per Ardua", this is for the Clan MacIntyre, has age but impossible to say how old.

M8653 - SAS OFFICERS NAMED UNIFORM WITH BERET.   £325
Excellent condition, modern SAS officers tropical tunic and biege beret with full insignia. The lightwieght tunic has a Hong Kong tailors label and another with the officers name details. Insignia is quite a mixture, the buttons being SA silver staybright, the shoulder rank and SAS titles are blackened finish, the SAS collar badges with winged dagger are bimetal and to the right sleeve is a padded cloth pair of SAS wings. To the left chest are two medal ribbons, one for the UN Cyprus Medal of the 60's, the other for the 1962 Campaign Service Medal, issued from 1962 to 2007. The biege beret is well formed and carries a sewn on, cloth SAS badge of the period. SAS items do not turn up very often, so a named tunic & beret with full insignia in such excellent condition is quite something.

M8972 - SAS BERET WITH BADGE.   £80
A large size original but quite modern SAS beret with stitched on cloth badge, has full maker details inside. In very good condition, apart from the light tan material having signs of moth surface grazing but no nips or holes.

M8654 - RUSSIAN WW11 HOLSTER WITH GERMAN BADGE ATTACHED.   £250
A good WW11 period, russian Tokarev, leather pistol holster with flap closure and spare magazine pocket to the front. Unusual feature is that someone has pinned through the leather flap a luftwaffe bronze fighter clasp, possibly the owner captured a pilot and took the clasp to decorate his holster, a common practice by the americans.

M8259 - RUSSIAN HELICOPTOR PILOTS NET HELMET AND MASK   £200
Excellent russian pilots net helmet & oxygen mask, as used in the attack helicoptors, in afghanistan during the summer months, helmet looks based on the german luftwaffe net helmet in design but with extra padding, it is complete with headphones and wiring, the oxygen mask is fully complete with hose, mike & leads and to complete the set there is a pair of rubber surround flying goggles, great display item.

M8849 - RELIC GERMAN VEHICLE NUMBER PLATE AND LAMP.   £125
A dug up relic, german vehicle rear number plate, complete with bracket and Notek convoy light. The plate still shows its white finish with wehrmacht registration still legible. The Notek lamp has lost its front cover but the body is still there with its bulb holder fittings and bottom window lense that allows light to shine on the number plate, when complete the lamp would have had a flip over lense cover to show either red or green light for convoy work and black out precautions. Though very corroded, this item still displays well and tells a story.

M8121 - RELIC FRENCH PICKAXE HEAD FROM VERDUN.   £45
A large & heavy, french army pioneer pickaxe head, recovered from the Verdun battlefield trenches in the 70's, though fairly corroded to its surface, it could still be used and is pretty in as found condition.

M8662 - RELIC BLOWTORCH FROM GERMAN U-BOAT.   £125
A relic brass blow torch, salvaged from U-Boat U534, which was raised in 1993, after being sunk by aircraft at the end of the war, it was put on display at Birkhead, Liverpool for quite a few years, before being cut into four sections and moved to Woodside Ferry Terminal, where it now forms an attraction. The blowtorch is in pretty good shape being mostly brass in construction, though it has not been cleaned, with just the steel rear handle having suffered from corrosion. Interesting kreigsmarine item from a known U-Boat.

M8868 - REICHSBAHN RAILWAY LAMP.   £110
A small, approx 6 inch high, but very nice metal lamp with curved, clear glass lens, having bars to protect it and a fixing bracket to the rear, the top cover is embossed with eagle & swastika, with letters D.R. either side for the german railways or Reichsbahn. Has a candle in it at present, so assume this was what was used to light it.

M8255 - R.N. WHITEHEAD TORPEDO STEERING GYROSCOPE.   £475
A rare, early steering gyroscope for the Royal Navy, Whitehead torpedo. The Whitehead torpedo was first perfected in 1866 but it was the fitting of the Ludwig Obry steering gyroscope, which Whitehead bought the rights to, that made it accurate. This is the gyro for the Whitehead 18 inch torpedo introduced in 1895 and the low serial number of 538, indicates it might be from the first production run, it is also maker stamped R.G.F. for the Royal Gun Factory, which only made torpedo's between 1890 & 1911 for the early Dreadnought battelships, after which work transferred to Whiteheads at Weymouth. The gyroscope, which is of heavy bronze frame, with bronze flywheel in steel rings, is still in working order and display mounted on a machined alloy base, a great item of victorian engineering that lead the way to submarines becoming an effective weapon.

M8369 - PLATED CIG CASE WITH MAP AND RAF BADGE.   £35
A fairly large, plated cigarette case, with attached RAF cap badge to the front and embossed on the rear with a map of the UK, the case dates from the end of the war or just after, catch & hinge still working well.

MC who won his award whilst with the Devons in WW1 and served throughout WW11, to retire in the 1950's. unusual and attractive item with good history.

M8093 - PANZER DRIVE COLLAR.   £50
Heavcy duty steel collar that would take the ring of bolts, on a german panzer track drive assembly, still with the remains of its original sand paint finish, possibly a panzer 1V, good display item.

There is a hole in each corner for fixing nails or screws. Impossible to date exactly but think its pre 70's vintage, very attractive display item.

M8370 - OLD COMTEMPTABLE CARVED WALKING STICK.   £200
A walking stick, which has for its top section a carved wood bust of a british soldier of the BEF at the start of the first war, topped off with his cap, on the top of which is carved in a circle "Old Comtemptable" with 1914 in the middle, very unusual item, not sure from what period it dates but its attractive and well made.

Its an excellent lifelike painting of a moment in time.

M8673 - MG13 BARREL LAMP STAND WITH HELMET SHADE.   £350
Unusual, small standard lamp, made using the barrel cooling sleeve from a german MG13 machine gun on a wood base and having a german M42 helmet shell has a lamp shade. The cooling sleeve is as it was on the weapon with sight fittings etc and the channel inserted to take the cable, giving the impression of a barrel inside. Bolb holder is fitted but requires wiring. I do have another example, this one having a Vickers helmet shell as a shade, this being the british made version of the WW1 german helmet for the irish army, same price for each one.

M8975 - MG TRIPOD WITH SS-VT PANZER MARKINGS.   Sold
Interesting early tripod of wood & metal with telescopic legs and having the spigot to take the MG mounts for the MG13 & MG34 in the AA roll, has german makers plate to the top. Finished in light field grey paint, it has hand painted unit markings on two of its legs, on one is SS2 / VT (the SS being in the form of lightning runes) the other having 4PZ.abw.-Komp.(mot) this apperas to indicate the" 4th Battlion, motorized company" and the SS/VT were the first first Waffen SS units in the field during the polish campaign, before being given designated names such Das Riech Division etc. Though not the regular all metal "Dreifuss" AA tripod as issued, the SS during that early period used whatever equipment they could get their hands on and this appears to be a survivor.

M7955 - MAYBACH ENGINE ROCKER FROM TIGER 1.   £145
A single engine valve, rocker assembly, from the Maybach V12 engine of a german Panzer , the Tiger 1, which with its heavy armour and high power 88mm gun, was one of the best heavy tanks of the war. This item came from a blown up Tiger and has some shrapnel damage to it but is still an impressive lump for display.

M8756 - LUFTWAFFE TRUMPET BANNER EAGLE.   Sold
Very interesting item, being a large luftwaffe eagle removed from a trumpet banner, with great bullion stitchwork and detail. This came from the luftwaffe airfield of Stendal, near Berlin, which was a paratroop & flight training school, being the first training centre for the Falschirmjager and also transport aircraft like the Ju52. After 1942 it became a operational airfield for first night fighters, then day fighters right upto 1945. The eagle has been mounted for display, on a grey cloth covered, circular board and is in very good condition.

M8842 - LUFTWAFFE SILVER PRESENTATION PLATE.   £265
A fairly large silver presentation tray with embossed luftwaffe eagle & swastika, a date of 1941 and an inscription which I think says thanks from the general staff and command but I am unable to give a proper translation, it is in very good condition if a little tarnished and nice quality with the eagle being embossed into the tray from behind, rather than affixed to it, there is a very small maker or silver mark to the rear.

M8869 - LUFTWAFFE AIRFIELD FIREMANS NOZZLE.   £350

M8178 - LARGE MODEL OF R34 AIRSHIP ON REVOLVING STAND.   £405
A large, approx 6ft long model of a british airship, has a metal frame construction with doped canvas covering, almost like the real thing and is fitted with a swivel mounting which can be bolted to a outside stand, allowing it to turn into the wind (I tried it out) the airship is finished in silver with raf colours to the tail fins and raf roundels each side, along with R34. Having checked photo's of the actual R34, the model not an exact copy and looks more like the R100 but a large amount of work has gone into its build and is a one-off item, maybe intended as a outdoor marker but never used as such, its in very good shape with just a couple of small patch repairs and to me looks to be pretty old, possibly even pre-war in age.

M8289 - LARGE GERMAN TRIPOD FOR BUNKER OPTICS.   £300
A good set of the large, heavy duty optics tripod, of the Gestell 38 type, used as fortress or bunker, large ranging optics tripods, each metal leg consists of three tubes, the centre one being for adjustment, with a large knob to the top, between the legs are folding metal stays that can be used to anchor the tripod in a fixed position and the whole thing is topped off with a mounting disc & spigot, still has most of its grey paint finish intact, heavy item.

M8171 - LARGE CARVED WOOD, LUFTWAFFE PILOTS BADGE.   Sold
A large, approx 2ft square section of flat wood with bark edges, having a giant size carved luftwaffe pilots badge, having excellent detail, complete with wartime swastika. There is some carved wording to the bottom that appears to indicate it was done for a former luftwaffe pilots 70th birthday, also signed by the artist. The whole thing has been done in the style of wartime carvings often done for luftwaffe squadrons and army regiments and has been worked on by an expert in the craft and is designed to be hung on a wall, very impressive.

M8865 - KRIEGSMARINE SHIPS TELEPHONE.   £285
A kreigsmarine ships telephone, of the type used on all large warships, and seen on the bridge, rectangular, grey painted metal box shape, with hook for the heavy metal hand phone, with curved mouth piece and rubber cushion ear pad, the base box has at the top a black panel with central switch that can select 1 to 10 (different places on the ship) below that is a small window, possibly to show what you select and below that is circular disc with a knob that can be wound quickly to ring the place selected and at the base is another hook similar to that the hand set is hung from. It is all in very good condition, apart from the hand set rubber ear cushion which has perished and really needs to be replaced.
