M7762 - US PILOTS SURVIVAL VEST.   £85
Almost mint, unissued american pilots survival vest, thought to be wartime, though date has been found on it, in green material with USAF star logo to the front chest, has numerous pockets inside and out, to hold all the various survival items issued, all marked with what the contents are and includes one for gloves and a built in pistol holster, has makers label and is large size.

M8989 - TANKARD DEDICATED TO PILOT KILLED 1941.   Sold
Unusual item, being a heavy pewter tankard with a dedication to a dead pilot. The inscription reads "F/O.E.E.STEWART. R.N.Z.A.F. 269 SQD. KILLED IN ACTION 7-12-41" Possibly it was his tankard and the inscription added when he was killed, it has not been researched, so quite likely a story there somewhere.

M8906 - RFC PILOTS HELMET, INSIGNIA, DOGTAGS, PHOTO.   Sold
Interesting RFC group of items to a pilot by the name of Andrews, there is a portrait photo of him in RFC uniform, before being promoted and becoming a pilot, this is in a period metal frame by "Arco" of birmingham, with this is a brass RFC cap badge, his fibre ID tag on a fine chain and his pilots wings, attached to a section of uniform fabric. Lastly there is his leather flying helmet, blanket lined, with broad arrow & WD stamp, helmet is complete and good but with the signs of wear you would expect and being 100 years old. Plenty of scope for research and nice items.

M8853 - REPLICA RAF 32 PATT LIFEVEST.   Sold
A well made replica of the RAF pilots 32 pattern life vest, commonly known as the "Mae West" the tan colour material has been over painted to the front in aircraft chrome yellow paint to aid visibility and has been correctly painted around the instructions printed in the vest, has been stuffed to simulate the original Kapok filling and has all its straps & fittings, apart from the rubber inflation tube, which could easily be added.

M6850 - REPLICA LUFTWAFFE PILOTS CHANNEL TROUSERS.   Sold
A well made pair of replica luftwaffe channel trousers but being well worn & having quite a few stitched repairs, medium to large size and blue in colour, these are the summer wieght cloth type and they have the knee pockets & strap holders for flare cartridges and side pockets for signal flag, gravity knife & flare pistol, has correct poppers & Ri-Ri type zips all round, with integral belt & braces fittings.

M7847 - RELIC LUFTWAFFE OXYGEN MASK FOR REBUILD.   £265
A semi relic luftwaffe oxygen mask, which would make a decent restoration project, the rubber mask is pretty good, undamaged and with internals intact, also has almost half its convoluted tube attached, missing the lower half with its crocodile clip and the mask is missing all its strap assembly but no reason it cannot be restored with original or replica parts.

M8401 - RCAF TROPICAL PILOT OFFICERS TUNIC.   £195
A tan cloth lightwieght, tropical jacket, with rank insignia for a pilot officer and to the chest, a pair canadian pilots wings, jacket has been well used but is in good condition with all buttons intact.

With the jacket comes a RAF type canvas flight bag, with paper label attached giving pilots name & 804 squadron, bag is well used but complete, lastly there is a small, naval type blue flag with four stars for New Zealand, nice trio of items for possible research, pilot is known to have been in north africa at one point and the flight bag label names him, 804 Naval Air Sqd & HMS Ark Royal, so he looks to have been well travelled and possibly remained in service after the war..

M8827 - RCAF OFFICERS SIDE CAP.   £95
A Royal Canadian Air Force officers side cap, just the same pattern & insignia as the RAF type but produced in Canada with full makers label inside, some wear to the interior, otherwise a very nice cap.

A medium size O/R's RAF greatcoat with insignia and dated 1942, has label inside and is complete with belt.

A good, wartime RAF Wing Commanders tunic & belt, with well worn kings crown pilots wings and the owners name & number in the inside pocket, also has medal ribbons for the Defence Medal & the 39-45 War Medal, above these are medal loops but the ribbons are missing, research should show what these were. Tunic has the 3 rank stripes to the cuffs, kings crown brass buttons and is in good order, apart from some moth nibbles to the rear of the left sleeve cuff

M8127 - RAF WARRANT OFFICERS SERVICE TUNIC.   £185
A good wartime issue, RAF Warrant Officers four pocket service tunic, with kings crown brass buttons, only real difference to a normal officers uniform, being the rank insignia of two cloth warrant officer crest patches, one to each lower sleeve, tunic is clean and free of moth.

Early post war RAF issue, tropical "Beadon" flying suit, a lightweight, grey colour flight suit named after its inventor and a popular piece of kit with pilots in hot climes, has a full length zip closure and numerous pockets secured with poppers, as are the cuffs and zips to the ankle, chest pockets have scalloped flaps with three poppers each, has a matching material belt, which is fed through a stitched channel in the suit, has integral shoulder boards with pilots rank insignia and stitch mark evidence of pilots wings to the left chest. Some wear around the collar, otherwise in good condition, though does have a colour stain to the right shoulder area, possibly marker dye powder ? Which clean off, issue label states it’s a size 3.

M8942 - RAF SURVIVAL SNAKE BITE TREATMENT CAPSUL.   £125
A neat little chromed metal tube, very well made with rounded, screw-on end caps, one cap reveals a metal blade or lancet to work on the wound, the other cap reveals a capsule (missing) with a potassium tablet for treatment. A late issue RAF side cap in very good condition, with war economy, black plastic badge and black buttons, introduced late in the war to save on metals like brass.

M8106 - RAF PRIVATE PURCHASE 36 PATT FLYING BOOTS.   £435
A pair of large size 36 patt flying boots RAF type 22c/80. these were the boots of choice during the Battle of Britain, so much so that even when the boots were no longer issued, pilots would private purchase them and this is one such pair, exactly the same as the RAF issue but they do not carry the RAF stamps, all black, excellent condition leather with cut-out and strap to the front top and fully fleece lined, they have original soles and are approx size 10.

M8183 - RAF PRESTIGE WHITE FLYING SUIT REPLICA.   £150
A copy of the 1930's RAF white "prestige" flying suit, used by some Battle of Britain pilots, newly made and unused, would make a great display item kitted out with periof flying kit, not an easy item to find and the original suits are almost impossible to track down.

M8902 - RAF PILOTS SHORT SLEEVE TOPICAL JACKET.   £85
Interesting example of early RAF tropical clothing in very good condition, a short sleeved jacket in quite a heavy tan corduroy material, unusual for tropical clothing, four pockets with scalloped pocket flaps to top pockets, shoulder straps with rank insignia and a kings crown pair of pilots wings to the left chest, also has a full set of black plastic buttons. Inside is a tailors label marked with "F/Lt. A.Bromley. May 1940."

M8981 - RAF PILOTS KINGS CROWN WINGS.   £85
A good pair of padded, kings crown RAF pilots wings, this pair being the type used on tropical flying jackets and suits, it having four sewn on popper fittings to enable it to be removed from tropical clothing for washing. Quite scarce to find in a good, complete state with all fittings.

M8905 - RAF PILOTS HOUSEMAID ROLL AND CONTENTS.   £75
Unusual item of a pilots personal kit, being a military "housemaid" roll but of french origin, with private purchase type contents and named to a RAF pilot. Its possible the pilot picked it up while in france in 1940, or possibly in 1944 after D-Day. The french marked roll has been filled with officers private purchase items, razor in container, brush in container, soap container, all quality plated items and a metal shaving mirror in bag. The roll is ink marked to the owner ( R.A.F.V.F. 1187201 Pitman M.F.) which could indicate he was a pre-war reserve pilot, could be researched.

M5904 - RAF PILOT OFFICERS TROPICAL UNIFORM & EFFECTS.   £125
Two RAF tropical uniforms for a Flt.Lieutenant M.T.Allen, the first being a wartime khaki short sleeved jacket & shorts with kings crown buttons and other insignia removed, the 2nd being an early postwar green short sleeve, 4 pocket jacket in excellent condition with black queens crown buttons, padded pilots wings, slip-on shoulder rank and medal ribbons, consisting of WW11 Defence Medal, War Medal 39-45 with mention in dispatches oakleaf, General Service Medal with dispatches oakleaf and 1953 Coronation Medal. M8155 - RAF PILOT OFFICERS BD BLOUSE.   £205
A good," officer cut" modified RAF BD blouse, for a pilot with shoulder rank of squadron leader, the blouse or jacket has the tailors label inside the collar, so I would think a private purchase item, has very good padded, kings crown pilots wings, good condition.

M8263 - RAF P TYPE OXYGEN MASK AND TUBE.   £95
A good condition RAF P type oxygen mask, complete with tube, which has its bayonet coupling, mask also has mike with lead & plug, plus fittings to attach to the flight helmets Mk3 & 4.

Tropical RAF uniform jacket, worn by Group Captain P.M.McSwiny whilst he was a Squadron Leader with 202 Flyin Boat Squadron in malta during the 1930's, he was a former army officer in the first war, serving in 19`15 on the North-West Frontier, India & Egypt, before joining the RFC in 1917, then in the 1920's & 30's, appears to have specialised in armament duties. The tunic is in excellent condition, tan material, four pocket, integral belt with shoulder board rank in tropical colours and brown tropical buttons, quite different to the later 1940's tropical uniform, it is supplied with his full service history, interesting item.

M9023 - RAF OFFICERS DESK FLAG.   £35
A small wartime RAF flag, that would be attached to a desk mounted flag pole and found in most RAF officers offices. Only the flag remains in this case, approx 6 inches long, does have damage but the colours are good, nice original item.

M8067 - RAF OFFICER PILOTS UNIFORMED, NAMED TO 206 SQD.   £265
A good RAF officers service uniform of four pocket tunic with integral belt and trousers, with the rank of Flight Lieutenant and having padded kings crown pilots wings, together with medl ribbons for 39-45 Star, Atlantic Star & Defence Medal. The pilot whose name is in the tunic, dated 3-3-44, flew Liberators with 206 Sqd Coastal Command, through 1944 & 45, no other research has been done. Uniform is medium size and free from mothing, apart from a area inside the tunic.

M8894 - RAF MK8 FLYING GOGGLES.   £100
A good condition pair of RAF Mk8 flying goggles, with good clear lenses, tidy leather surround & chamois back padding, good blue painted frame and nice condition elasticated headstrap with leather fittings.

M8154 - RAF MK8 FLYING GOGGLES.   £65
A pair of rather scruffy condition, RAF Mk8 flying goggles, with elastic headstrap that has seen better days, will still display on a helmet ok, fair condition, hence the low price.

M8994 - RAF MK4 FLYING GOGGLES WITH SUN VISOR.   Sold
A very nice pair of RAF issue Mk4 flying goggles, having the flip up tinted sun visor, fitted to the blue painted frame top, lenses are clear and chamois padding to frames clean and good, complete with very good elastic head strap.

M6841 - RAF MESSAGE STREAMER.   £55
Excellent condition, red.yellow & blue cloth message streamer, with white cloth pouch at the end to hold the message, original use was by the RFC in the first war to relay information on german sites & movements to artillery etc and it continued in use into the 2nd War to drop messages where there was no radio link. This one is in almost mint, unused condition and could be WW11 or later, a fine example.

Birmingham, who were the largest whistle makers in the UK and later became "ACME whistles" The whistles were issued in this form and also the more well known "snail" pattern as survival whistles for aircrew, this one has an attached chain and hook.

M8235 - RAF H TYPE OXYGEN MASK WITH CONVERTED MIKE.   £65
A good condition RAF H type oxygen mask, that has a modified mike switch system, with mike in the usual place with cover and the operating flick switch being along the cable, which ends in the usual plug used on the C type helmet, the clip also has a clip device, mask itself is unaltered and could easily be converted back to original spec, does have the left strap missing but otherwise complete.

M8402 - RAF GROUP CAPTAINS NAMED UNIFORM.   £255
A Group Captains uniform of service dress jacket and matching trousers, with full rank insignia and a pair of kings crown pilots wings. Tailors label in the jacket gives the owners name as G/Capt. P.J.Cain (no research has been carried out) uniform is free from moth and is in good condition.

The cap comes with three framed photo's of early war period, one of a RAF pilot in uniform and wearing the cap, with a DFC ribbon but sadly no name. The second photo shows the same pilot with what appears to be his wife and the third photo shows a man of the same age in army uniform, possibly his brother. If someone can ID the man, there could be some good research.

M8444 - RAF BRASS CAP BADGE.   £5
Standard brass O/R's cap badge for the RAF during the war, complete with fixing lugs.

M6659 - RAF BOMB DISPOSAL CLOTH PATCH.   £25
Excellent RAF Bomb Disposal, cloth trade badge, blue circular patch with silver/white thread design of a bomb surrounded by a wreath and the letters B D, introduced in 1941, it has carried on in use until the present day, difficult to date I think this one is postwar.

M8887 - RAF B TYPE FLYING HELMET.   £500
A very good RAF, classic B type leather flying helmet, with makers label to chamois lining stating size 3 and 1941 as its date, so a late issue, as the C type came into production that year, has the usual poppers inside the cheeks to accept the D type oxygen mask and these have the protector pads in place but being late issue, it has been modified on the outside with fittings to take the G type oxygen mask then in service. Has all its Bennet buckle straps & fittings and leather is nice and supple, a very nice helmet.

M8109 - RAF AIRCREW SURVIVAL KITE IN TUBE CONTAINER.   £40
Item of RAF dinghy survival equipment, being a yellow fold up kite in a yellow metal tube container, the idea being that downed crewmen could assembly the kite and fly it to carry an aerial lead for a transmitter in the dinghy, kite looks in decent shape but the metal container is pretty scruffy, along with the glued on paper instructional label.

M8111 - RAF AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION PLAYIN CARDS.   £65

Tunic is dated 1944, has kings crown brass buttons, eagle cloth shoulder patches, a Leading Aircraftman cloth propellor to the left sleeve, with a single inverted chevron to the cuff to denote technicion, trousers are matching and both seem free of moth, the cap is a little worn and has its brass RAF badge.

M9057 - RAF 43 SERIES SILK ESCAPE MAP.   £125
Example of the classic 43 series, silk escape maps, double sided in vivid colour, this is sheet A & sheet B, which covers France, Belgium, Holland & Spain and was issued as part of the escape kit to all RAF bomber & fighter aircrew flying over europe 1943 to 1945 and would also cover the D-Day operations period. Map is very detailed to aid downed aircrew to navigate back to allied lines. Map has been kept folded and away from light, so is very fresh with just a little fraying to the border edges.

M7204 - RAF 41 PATT LEATHER FLYING GLOVES.   £165
A good pair of brown leather RAF 41 pattern flying gloves or gauntlets, with the diagonal zips and elasticated sections, these are the type 22C/756-765, an improved version of the 1933 pattern, well marked inside with kings crown & AM stamps, they are in good order with some signs of wear to the fingers and a small section of loose seam to one glove.

A good condition, postwar issue RAF officers cap, with good crusher look and tidy queens crown bullion & gilt metal insignia, interior is good with oilskin lining to the crown.

M8944 - POLISH NAVIGATORS EAGLE BADGE.   £100
A gilt finished, polish airforce navigators badge, being a swooping eagle with lightning bolts, holding a wreath with a small enamel disc with the number 2, which I think denotes 2nd class, to the top is a fine suspension chain and to the rear a screwback fitting, with polish makers details to the disc, nice condition, just a bit dirty.

M8851 - NITSCHE AND GUNTER TINTED GOGGLES   £150
A pair of almost mint, tinted goggles in issue brown leather pouch, as used by some luftwaffe pilots & flight crew, made by the well known firm of Nitsche & Gunter, who also made the rare luftwaffe splinter goggles. These goggles have round tinted, polarised lenses in soft light grey leather surrounds, with an elastic head strap, case also contains paper care instructions with the makers name.

The items consist of his pocket watch in good working order with neat leather strap and engraved on the back to him and dated 1941, his leather wallet containing occupation currency and a number of photo snapshots showing him and others in I think, north africa, a trench art made brass ashtray, marked 41 Sqd, 1944. The items are from his days in north africa & Italy, before he came back to fight in europe, great scope for full research, there is already a photo copy of a book chapter on the fighting in Italy which gives him mention and he is known to have flown in support of the invasion of southern france "Operation Dragoon" and to have flown rocket fireing missions in normandy and much more, also a very nice named watch.

M9020 - NAMED PAIR OF RAF PILOTS WINGS.   £95
A good condition pair of kings crown, RAF pilots cloth wings, which are unusual due to the reverse having been marked with a date 4/2/42 and also "Sgt. 778360 G.W.Oldham" which I assume was the owner of the wings. No research has been made into the service career of this pilot and I can only think that the date may refer to when he earned his wings.

M8187 - MK3C RAF PILOTS GREEN FLYING HELMET.   £225
A green finish, Mk3c, RAF pilots helmet, complete, with blast visor & tinted visor, plus a velvet cover, helmet is well used with scuffs etc to the shell, which has refective tape attached and a velcro pad to take a squadron patch, the well cushioned internals look complete, though the protective covering on one headphone cushion is missing, has its straps and fittings for the oxygen mask, medium size and displays well..

M7487 - LUFTWAFFE W-101 FLYING HELMET.   £325

A very large, waterproof material map with blue cloth backing, owned and used by a pilot flying single seat fighters against the nightime allied bomber streams over europe, it is possibly a plotting map to check area's, as it covers all of europe down to Italy etc and up to the lower section of the UK, it appears to have a grid pattern that may indicate area's covered by smaller maps in more detail but at the same time gives an overall guide across europe, the pilot has marked out by hand many small blue coloured triangles, which checking the locations, appear to be luftwaffe airfields or bases. The pilot who used this map flew Bf109's & Fw190's with first JG302 "Wilde Sau" Jagdgeschwader, then later with NJG 11 from 1943 until wars end, map is in fine condition and folded.

Very good condition RAF issue, 1st pattern C type flying helmet, introduced in 1941, with Bennet buckle chinstrap and external wiring system with jack plug for headphones and that would also be attached to a G type oxygen mask, which is missing, though the mike switch from the mask is still attached. Leather of the helmet is soft and supple and stamped with the AM and kings crown, chamois leather lining is clean and tidy, a very nice helmet and now pretty scarce.

M8926 - 1ST PATT LUFTWAFFE KAPOK LIFEVEST.   Sold
A luftwaffe model 10-76A, full back Kapok Schwimmweste or life vest, for pilots and aircrew, this is the 1st pattern Kapok as used in the Battle of Britain period, the 2nd pattern had an open back. Made up of numerous Kapok, wadded susages covered in pale yelow fabric, all tied and stitched together in sections, making a waistcoat shape with high collar, closure to the front and sides is by a series of cord loops & pegs, with a strap passing between the legs, apart from some fading and light stains, everything is intact and without damage, a very rare survivor as most have rotted, extremely scarce item to find.

M8333 - 1943 PATT RAF ESCAPE BOOTS.   £285
A good condition pair of 1943 pattern RAF "escape" boots, so called because if pilots and flight crew were shot down, with the use of a small knife tucked into the boot, the top fleece lined section could be cutaway, leaving just the civilian looking, shoe lower section to aid escape. The boots themselves have the bottom black leather shoe section with laces and the attached upper section is black suede, with a side zip, having a buckled strap to the top, this is lined in white fleece, these are unique among the many types of RAF flying boots, being the only ones that can be converted for another use, they are in good clean condition with laces in place and working zips, size is approx 9, just the small knife is missing.

M8858 - 1940 DATED BRONZE RAF SCRAMBLE BELL.   Sold
A very nice, large bronze "scramble" bell, having the etched Kings Crown, AM mark and date of 1940, complete with its clapper and white blancoed, woven rope bell pull. No history to the bell, it has been well polished but it does still have traches of its original colour red, as all these bells started life as airfield fire bells, a good, original example of the type.

M5949 - "OFFICIAL" ARMBAND   £75
A very high quality armband with the word "OFFICIAL" marked out in heavy machine stitched scarlet thread, the armband itself is of a high quality, soft cream coloured material, lined on the reverse with white cotton which carries a WD broadarrow a number 7 and date stamp of 1939, the band closure fittings of metal buckle and adjustable strap are also of high quality, it does not look to have been used and sadly I have no other information on it other than it came with various RAF related items, does someone out there know ?

M7299 - PANEL WITH BULLET HOLES, SIGNED ECKHARD BOB.   £385
A large plain alloy panel with a luftwaffe Balkan cross painted on it, which has a large section of Browing 303 bullet holes in it and has been signed by luftwaffe fighter ace Major Hans-Ekkehard Bob, who flew 700 combat missions and has 60 claimed victories. This panel was painted and used in a TV documentry about the merits of the Spitfire versus the Bf109 in the Battle of Britain, with Bob being one of the veteran pilots interviewed. The panel was used in the section on how effective the browning 303 machine guns were compared to the weapons used on the 109 and a browning was set-up and fired at the panel to show this. After filming was finished Bob was asked to sign the panel in large felt-tip pen, which he did. The panel comes with a DVD of the documentry.
